Platform

Everything you need to run a digital study

From recruitment to analysis, Conductor handles the full research lifecycle with purpose-built tools for every study type.

assignment

Survey Distribution

Deploy validated questionnaires at scale with branching logic, timed delivery, and participant-level tracking across study arms.

stadia_controller

Tasks & Mini-games

Embed gamified cognitive and behavioural tasks directly in studies. Measure attention, reaction time, and engagement with built-in scoring.

monitor_heart

Digital Phenotyping

Collect passive sensor-based data — activity, sleep, location patterns — alongside self-report data.

groups

Flexible Participation

Support both fully anonymised and PII-registered participant flows. Configurable consent, re-identification controls, and ethics-ready data governance — all from one schema.

Randomised Control Trials

Multi-arm study designs with automated allocation, blinding controls, dosage tracking, and protocol deviation monitoring — straight out of the box.

Up to 16 arms per study
World-first

AI-optimised
intervention grouping.

Contextual bandit algorithms re-assign participants to intervention arms in real time, optimising outcomes as data accumulates. The same platform that delivered world's first AI-enhanced adaptive trial Vibe Up, published in JAMA Network Open.

How it works

From protocol to publication, in one workflow

Conductor moves with the rhythm of real research — four phases, every one of them instrumented, audited, and ready for ethics review.

01
edit_note

Design your protocol

Compose study arms, instruments, and timing in a visual editor. Validated questionnaires, custom tasks, and consent forms live in one schema.

02
group_add

Recruit & consent

Push studies to iOS and Android with branded onboarding, eligibility screening, and configurable consent flows — anonymous or PII-registered.

03
network_intelligence

Collect adaptively

Surveys, mini-games, and passive sensors stream into the platform. Contextual bandits re-allocate interventions as data arrives.

04
analytics

Analyse & publish

Export full datasets to R, Python, or REDCap. Built-in dashboards and audit trails keep findings reproducible and peer-review-ready.

Conductor let us launch a fully adaptive, multi-arm trial in a fraction of the time it would have taken with a traditional EDC. The audit trail was ethics-ready out of the box.

We needed something that could speak to parents, satisfy two local councils, and still produce data we could publish. Conductor managed all three without compromise.

About

Built by researchers, for researchers

Conductor is developed and maintained by the Applied Artificial Intelligence Initiative (A2I2) at Deakin University. Our team combines expertise in machine learning, clinical psychology, software engineering, and human-computer interaction to build research infrastructure that meets the rigorous standards of peer-reviewed science.

Every feature in Conductor has been shaped by real research needs — from randomised control trials to longitudinal cohort studies — ensuring the platform evolves alongside the research it supports.

FAQ

Questions teams ask before they pilot

Don't see what you're looking for? Talk to our team.

Where is participant data hosted? expand_more
All data is stored on sovereign Australian infrastructure (GCP australia-southeast1 by default). Hosting region can be configured per study, with full audit logging and encryption at rest and in transit.
Can we build custom instruments and tasks? expand_more
Absolutely. Conductor ships with validated instruments (PHQ-9, GAD-7, ISI and many more) and lets teams compose new ones — from simple Likert items to fully gamified cognitive tasks — without engineering support.
How does Conductor support ethics submissions? expand_more
Every study generates an exportable protocol document, consent flow preview, and data-handling summary aligned to HREC and most IRB templates. Audit trails of protocol changes are versioned and ethics-ready.
What support do research teams get? expand_more
Every active study is supported by A2I2 engineers and methodologists — onboarding workshops, protocol review, instrument validation, and on-call support during recruitment windows.
Is Conductor open to non-Deakin researchers? expand_more
Yes. While Conductor is developed at Deakin University's A2I2, the platform is available to external research teams — academic and industry — under collaborative or licensing arrangements.
